DTF transfer order: What you can by as a private end user

DTF simply stands for Direct to Film. Unlike traditional transfer printing or DTG (Direct to Garment), DTF eliminates the need for weeding or complete pre-treatment. This saves us at least one step in the process. In other words, we don’t print directly onto the fabric but first onto a special DTF film. Only then does the transfer onto the fabric begin. The ink bonds with the product using an adhesive granulate and a so-called transfer press. The logo is printed onto the film with a DTF printer, which we discuss in detail in a later article.

For this, we recommend opting for specific formats. With DIN A3 or DIN A4 formats, you can arrange individual motifs so that they are placed separately on the film. This saves you the tedious task of cutting out each motif. DTF transfer order thus makes it absolutely hassle-free to print on T-shirts, hoodies, pillow covers, or bags. Additionally, DTF transfer print allows us to handle smaller quantities with crystal-clear and long-lasting prints.

As hinted above, DTF print involves multiple processes. One of these is direct printing onto PET film. You’d lack two crucial components: the transfer press and appropriate fabric. You’ll need substantial force and heat for the ink to bond with the fabric. Small runs for personal use can also be implemented in unconventional ways, but this does require some practice.
